Ever wondered how to sound Greek in Greek — without wrestling with complex prose? This course introduces early learners (lower-intermediate to intermediate) to the living phraseology of Plato: everyday idioms, turns of speech, and conversational structures drawn from his dialogues. This is not a Plato-reading seminar. Instead, we use the language of Plato—its clarity, rhythm, and core vocabulary—to help you speak easy, idiomatic Ancient Greek. Each session features short, adapted exchanges in simple Attic, designed to build fluency, intuition, and comfort through repetition and guided conversation. You’ll practice how to greet, ask, qualify, soften, disagree politely, express doubt, and navigate all the elegant pragmatic moves Plato’s characters employ. The emphasis is on communicative competence in Ancient Greek; any improvement in reading comes as a welcome side effect.
