Intermediate Latin through Extensive Reading (Intermediate)
Instructor:
Victor Kaplun
Description:
This course is aimed at those who have already tackled LLPSI: Familia Rōmāna by themselves and perhaps even completed it, and so are able to read intermediate-level texts, but would now like to review and solidify their knowledge with the guidance of an experienced instructor in order to help them bridge the infamous intermediate gap.
It is also an excellent way to progress from passive knowledge to active use of Latin, since the course will be taught through guided reading and discussion, with a lot of Latin-Latin rephrasing and a minimum of translation. Grammar will also be taught and discussed in Latin, and the learners' vocabulary will be expanded through the use of synonyms, antonyms, proverbs, and collocations.
The course will start with chapter 19 of LLPSI: Part 1, which is the part of the book where all the different tenses and verbal forms are first introduced.
Sessions will take place via Zoom and are capped at 6 participants to ensure a personalized learning environment.
Schedule:
12 1.5-hour sessions over 8 weeks
Tue, Thu, Sat, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM EST*
