Festina Lente II: Listening to Latin at Speed - Advanced

from $200.00

Instructor: Roberto Salazar

Course Details

Description

Every language learner faces the challenge of fast, natural speech. Understanding the rhythm and cadence of a language as spoken by natives is crucial—but in Latin, this is rarely practiced. With no native speakers and most teachers favoring slow, careful enunciation, students rarely get the chance to experience Latin as it might have been spoken naturally.

But what if we tried?

This course is designed to push your Latin comprehension to the next level. You’ll hear Latin spoken at a fast or even very fast pace, focusing on complex phraseology and idiomatic expressions. Part of the course will involve working with a shared text, while other exercises will test your listening ability without prior preparation. We’ll also work on strategies to help you speak Latin more fluently, building speed without sacrificing clarity.

If you’ve ever wondered what Latin might have sounded like in rapid conversation—or if you simply want to strengthen your ability to process and produce Latin at speed—this course is for you.

We will use different texts from those used the first time the course ran.
